Uddingston , who finished third in the league, had given the EK lads their hardest match of the season in the corresponding fixture earlier in the season. So a challenging match was expected. The final scoreline is in part a reflection of how the EK boys have developed during the season

The Uddingston pack started the game strongly, winning the scrums and taking the game to the EK in the loose. The EK lads responded by beginning to move the ball about the field and this created gaps in the Uddingston defence.

After ten minutes, Uddingston fumbled the ball at a lineout under EK pressure. Ben Walters was first to react, securing the ball. From the resulting ruck Cailean McIver made ground before being stopped five metres short. Mark Donachie took the ball on, drawing the defence, before passing to Dempsey Rennie who scored from five metres.

From a long kick off Steven Thompson caught the ball and went on a mazy run down the line, beating six players before scoring in the corner.

Both sets of forwards battled for supremacy, and Uddingston were judged to be off side at a ruck on their own 22. Ben Walters took a quick tap penalty, breaking three tackles before passing to Mark Donachie, who scored between the posts.

The next score came from the training ground; from a lineout, the ball went out to the backs who executed a miss move and dummy pass to release Steven Thompson. Steven showed his pace in open space by going round three defenders to score between the posts.

Uddingston forwards kept driving forward even in their own 22, when the EK forwards counter rucked Ben Walters was at the base of the scrum. Ben picked up the ball and went down the line and went over the defending winger to score.

From an Uddingston scrum, Ian Young won the ball against the head. The ball went out the back line; Aaron Harrington joined the line at pace. With two dummy passes Aaron broke through the defence and won the foot race to score between the posts.

From the kick off Mark Donachie caught the ball and went straight up the park. The defence could not cope with his hand- offs, and he scored between the posts.

The EK team did not relax and kept the pressure up forcing Uddingston to make mistakes. From a scrum Kern Douglas passed to Ross Rafferty who dummied his opposite number before showing great pace to score.

The last play of the game was a score for Robbie McCallum. Uddingston were adjudged off side at a ruck, Mark Donachie took a quick tap. Mark drove on before passing to Robbie McCallum who scored from 15 metres.
Ross Rafferty scored six conversions. Mark Donachie was Man of the Match.
